Consultative Workshop On Developing Communication Tools To Prevent And Eliminate Child Labor In Lao PDR

The meeting was organized by the Department of Labour Management, Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MoLSW).l – April 7, 2026, at the Lao Plaza Hotel, Ms. Daovading Philaxayphithak, Deputy Secretary General of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), attended the Consultation Meeting on developing communication tools to prevent and eliminate child labour in the Lao PDR. The meeting was organized by the Department of Labour Management, Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MoLSW).

The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Khamphat Ounlasy, Deputy Director General of the Department of Labour Management, MoLSW, and Mr. Viengpasith Thipphasouda, National Coordinator of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Lao PDR. Also in attendance were representatives from the Lao Federation of Trade Unions (LFTU), the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Embassy of Canada, and relevant central government agencies.
This meeting received support from the Government of Canada through the International Labour Organization (ILO Canada).
The main objective of the meeting was to build consensus on the deployment of modern communication tools to ensure they align with the actual situation and effectively reach target audiences. During the meeting, delegates jointly contributed feedback on the draft communication tools, which include:
- Printed materials: Posters and brochures with accessible and easy-to-understand content.
- Multimedia: Short videos and radio broadcast messages aimed at raising public awareness.
This activity is part of the "Project on Eliminating Discrimination in the Workplace, Abuse, and Child Labour in Lao PDR", which aims to promote trade and ensure the enforcement of labour regulations in accordance with international standards.
